Lawrence married Quinnie and they built this house
Back when miners still dug coal underground
Lindytown was just a dot on Kentucky’s map
Mountain folk doing mountain folk things

In the shadow of the mountain Quinnie’s garden grew
While progress carved up the land she knew
Till the woods her boy wandered in had been stripped bare
Slurry coursing through the hillside’s veins

Now the tears and the rockfly fill her eyes
Quinnie’s boy rocks beside her in the failing light
